Photo of the Week--4/20/09
I think I've already established I have a thing for waterfalls. Well, our trip to Iceland 2002 was quite a bonanza in this regard. This one is called Hraunfossar, it's one of the most unusual waterfalls I've ever seen. The water comes from cold springs that seep through the volcanic soil, before emerging midway down the hill. The minerals they pick up in the soil account for the cloudy turquoise quality of the water. It's nowhere near as powerful as some of the other waterfalls we saw, but the startling colors make for an interesting photo.
